“Want to Run a Race?”

Whether you are trying to get motivated to get off the couch or you’ve been running/walking for a while on your own, signing up for a race is an excellent way to get that extra push!

  • Don’t know where to start? That’s okay! San Antonio is chock full of running clubs that can help. Many post upcoming races on their websites. Check there first and find a race that suits you best.
  • When I say “suits you best” I mean it. You want to be able to look forward to it and enjoy the whole experience. There are tons of different kinds of races: pub runs, charitable runs, night runs, mud runs, fun runs and many more. If you don’t drink don’t run a pub run, if you don’t want to get dirty stay away from mud runs, etc. Choose one that you think you’d especially enjoy being a part of and go for it.
  • Make a goal! After choosing the race, set a goal. The goal can be as simple as completing the race or more specific like a personal record. Make sure it’s a reasonable and attainable goal so you don’t set yourself up for disappointment.

Get proper training in before the race and always keep hydrated! Have fun with it and your first 5k will turn into your first 10k followed by your first half marathon in no time.
