From 2014 to 2024, the award-winning H-E-B Body Adventure made a profound impact on San Antonio’s public health education and policy. The Witte, along with more than 100 medical, public health and education leaders, and with a powerful partnership with H-E-B, University Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield and San Antonio Children’s Hospital, led the transformation of the H-E-B Science Treehouse into the H-E-B Body Adventure Powered by University Health. Through innovative POWERpass technology and interactive stations, the Body Adventure encouraged visitors to develop their Health IQ, explore wellness and make health-conscious decisions.
After ten years of data collection and impact, the H-E-B Body Adventure closed in November 2024. The building will return to its original name – the H-E-B Science Treehouse – and its next phases will embrace an honor the Body Adventure’s revolutionary POWERpass model, with aims to drive cultural change in Earth Science, Environmental Health and Public Health, ultimately empowering an informed and engaged citizenry.

Sign in and select a Buddy to be your virtual guide at interactive stations that show how your heart beats, your legs move, and your mind relaxes. Cycle through a San Antonio River landscape. Walk or run across a motion-capture screen and receive your Energy Score. Then check your stride and height to discover how long it will take to walk the beautiful San Antonio River Trek. Examine real preserved human specimens, then look deeper on a life-size touchscreen anatomy table. Stroll through the gorgeous culinary and medicinal plant gardens, and participate in live cooking demonstrations, where you will learn simple ways to make healthy snacks and meals for the whole family.
